Are you starting to worry about how your child's adult front teeth are looking? Are you worried that their teeth have crowding or spacing issues or that their teeth don't seem to be fitting together like they should? You aren't the only one because we get questions about that all the time. Age 6 to 8 is a crucial time when it comes to the growth and development of the teeth and jaws. There are plenty of things to monitor dentally during those years, and this picture is a great illustration of many issues that we see on a daily basis with our younger kids. Does your child have one of these dental issues? We will be glad to let you know. At our office your child will receive a complimentary exam and a customized treatment plan to take care of all their orthodontic needs when the timing is right for them. A portion of kids around the ages of 7-8 years old require some sort of early orthodontic treatment in order to prevent major issues in the future, such as impacted teeth, a severe bite issue (underbite, overbite, crossbite), etc. If there is no need for treatment at that time, one of our board certified orthodontists will discuss with you an appropriate age and time for your child to return to our office to continue monitoring all dental growth and development.
In other words, don't get bent out of shape just yet. We all go through this transitional phase where the front 4 adult teeth and 6-year molars are erupting in to place and parents start asking us, "Does that look right to you?!" That is the best time to see a specialist. Who specializes in that sort of thing? Orthodontists! Our office has 2 board-certified orthodontists that can walk you through this process, and your initial consultation is always free. We would love the opportunity to meet you and your child and discuss the best treatment for your loved one. No referral is needed!
